City of Macomb and WIU announce plans for Independence Day celebration

MACOMB, Ill. — The City of Macomb and Western Illinois University are offering its annual Independence Day celebration on Thursday, July 4.

The fireworks display will take place on Vince Grady Field, and the community can enjoy the display by watching from Q-Lot on the Western Illinois University campus. Q-lot is on University Drive on the east side of Western Hall. Gates will open at 8 p.m., and the fireworks display will begin at approximately 9 p.m.

In a press release, Mayor Micheal Inman said, “We are grateful for the partnership we have with Western Illinois University and appreciate the use of their facilities in making this Independence Day celebration a safe and successful community event.”

In the event of rain, the fireworks display will take place on July 5 at the same time and location. More information can be found on the City of Macomb’s Facebook page or at www.cityofmacomb.com.
