Harold Robinson, 80, of Quincy, passed away at 1:22 am Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Harold was born June 14, 1944, in Los Angeles, CA to Harold F. and Ruth (Shaw) Robinson. He was married to Karen McNett on July 30, 1966, in Quincy, IL. She survives.

Other survivors include two children, Denise Tournear and Craig Robinson, both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Brady Tournear, Pamela Robinson, and Dakota Robinson; seven nieces, Dana, April, Tara, Brenda, Terri, Tana, and his special niece, Kimberly; and two nephews, Michael, and Steve.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Phyllis Moore; his parents in-law, John G. McNett and Lucille McNett; and one sister in-law, Audrey Fore.

Harold proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his courage and commitment to the nation. His professional life was equally distinguished; he worked as a skilled machinist and die maker at Gardner Denver and Die Makers of Monroe City. Harold also shared his knowledge and expertise as an instructor at Quincy Technical School and Quincy High School, shaping the minds of future generations. Harold’s life was enriched by his faith, and he was a devoted member of the Quincy Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

An avid outdoorsman, Harold’s younger years were spent as a commercial fisherman on the Mississippi River, skillfully navigating the waters in a boat he crafted with his own hands. His talent for woodworking was evident in the oak fish traps he built, which brought him much success. Harold’s love for the outdoors extended to hunting, where he pursued duck, goose, deer, rabbit, and squirrel with enthusiasm.

Harold’s interests were as diverse as they were passionate. He found solace in reading his Bible and took pleasure in the simple joys of life, such as watching outdoor shows like “Deadliest Catch” or listening to old country music on the radio. A master of card games, he relished playing pinochle with Karen and his dear friends Donna & Albert Cobb and never missed his rummy matches at the Illinois Veterans Home. Known for his culinary skills, Harold’s homemade stir fry recipe was legendary among those who had the pleasure of tasting it. His love for Chinese and Asian cuisine was well-known, and his family and friends will fondly remember the flavors he brought to their gatherings.

Harold Robinson’s life was a tapestry of love, service, and adventure and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
