Traffic stop in Hamilton leads to methamphetamine arrest of Kahoka, Mo., man
HAMILTON, Ill. — A traffic stop around midnight on Friday led to a methamphetamine arrest.
A Hancock County sheriff’s deputy was on patrol in Hamilton and conducted a traffic stop on a 2011 Lincoln for a traffic violation. Upon approach of the vehicle, the deputy detected the odor of burnt cannabis. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of cannabis and cannabis paraphernalia.
The driver, Cody S. Sommers, 28, of Kahoka, Mo., also was searched. Methamphetamine was found in his pants pocket.
Sommers was placed under arrest and transported to the Hancock County Jail, where he was charged with possession of less than 5 grams of methamphetamine. Sommers was lodged pending an initial court appearance.
