Judge Brenner calls governor’s office and IDPH “necessary parties” in legal action against Blessing and QMG; Wednesday hearing canceled
On Monday, Circuit Judge Tad Brenner entered an order which adds the Illinois governor’s office and the Illinois Department of Public Health as “necessary parties” to the legal action being taken against Blessing Health System and Quincy Medical Group by plaintiffs who do not want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine or get tested regularly.
Brenner’s initial order issued last Thursday did not call for the addition of the state into the lawsuit, nor did it address the motion to dismiss issued by Quincy Medical Group’s legal counsel, Jim Hansen.
The attorney for the 11 plaintiffs, Thomas DeVore, has 14 days to amend the pleadings to add the state entities. Because of these new developments, the hearing scheduled for Wednesday, October 6 at 9 a.m. now will not happen:
The two sides will have a case management conference with Judge Brenner on October 26. Until then, the temporary injunction remains in effect for the 11 plaintiffs and their employment remains intact.
