QUINCY — For the sixth consecutive year, Blessing Hospital has been named a “High Performing Hospital” by U.S. News & World Report as part of its 2024-2025 Best Hospitals report.

High Performing Hospital is the highest distinction a hospital can earn for U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedure and Condition ratings. The ratings are designed to assist patients in making informed decisions about where to receive care for health conditions or elective procedures.

Of the nearly 5,000 U.S. hospitals that U.S. News evaluated, Blessing Hospital is among only 38 percent that earned a “High Performing” rating.

“For 35 years, U.S. News has been a leading resource for patients navigating their health care decisions,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News, in a press release. “The ‘High Performing’ designation acknowledges hospitals that consistently deliver high-quality care for specific medical procedures and conditions. This recognition highlights their expertise and commitment to patient well-being.”

Blessing earned High Performing Hospital recognition in the following areas of care:

  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Heart attack
  • Heart failure

“We are honored to be one of the nation’s high-performing hospitals,” said Dr. Mary Frances Barthel, chief quality and safety officer, Blessing Health. “This recognition is a testament to the commitment of each Blessing team member to fulfilling our vision to be exceptional in providing safe, high-quality healthcare experience to every patient on every shift every day. We are equally as honored by every patient who chooses Blessing Hospital for their care. That ‘rating’ means the most to us.”

U.S. News evaluated nearly 5,000 hospitals across 15 specialties and 20 procedures and conditions. Hospitals awarded a designation excelled at factors such as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care and patient experience.

U.S. News & World Report provides rankings that empower consumers, business leaders and policy officials to make better, more informed decisions about important issues affecting their lives and communities.
