Quincy University Board of Trustees adds three members

QUINCY — The Quincy University Board of Trustees recently elected three members: Pam Hemmen, Father Mark G. Reamer, OFM, and Edward J. Schneidman.

“Our newly elected trustees join a strong board that is helping guide QU,” Ralph Oakley, chair of the QU Board of Trustees, said in a press release. “This group is committed to educational excellence and to ensuring QU will continue to advance and prosper.”

Hemmen has more than two decades of experience in various leadership roles in technology and marketing. She currently serves as the chief marketing officer at J&J Ventures Gaming in Effingham. She previously was the director of corporate development.

Before joining J&J Ventures Gaming, Hemmen held several positions at Patterson Companies, a dental technology and services company. She served as the vice president of Technology Services, overseeing commercial software development, sales, call center customer support and operations for the technology division. Hemmen also held the position of director at Patterson Technology Center, responsible for 370 employees across multiple locations.

Earlier in her career, Hemmen worked at EagleSoft, Inc. as a sales representative and was involved in dental software development and call center operations. Hemmen earned a marketing degree from Quincy University in 1990. She attended the GE John F. Welch Leadership Development Training in 2008 and the Essentials of Management Training in 2012. Hemmen completed the AMP187 program in 2014 at Harvard Business School Executive Education, focusing on business.

Reamer is vice president for mission and guardian of the Franciscan Friars at Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. He is also a lecturer in management at Siena College and chaplain for the Colonie (N.Y.) Police Department. Before taking his role with Siena, Reamer was pastor of the Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi in Raleigh, N.C., and associate pastor at St. Francis of Assisi in Triangle, Va.

Reamer served as a reserve chaplain in the U.S. Navy Chaplain Corp for 13 years, including active duty in Kuwait for Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He has volunteered as a police chaplain for the police departments in Raleigh, N.C. and Prince William, Va., and has been involved in prison ministry in North Carolina.

Reamer enjoys pastoral outreach at local parishes. He is an elected member of the Presbyteral Council of the Diocese of Albany and was appointed Episcopal Vicar of the Beverwyck region of the diocese. Reamer earned his undergraduate degree in religious studies education from Siena College, master of divinity in theology from Washington Theological Union and doctor of ministry in pastoral leadership from Duke University.

Edward J. Schneidman, a Quincy native, is a retired partner and currently is counsel at the law firm of Kirkland & Ellis LLP in Chicago. His law practice has focused on public and private mergers and acquisitions, investment funds and capital formation and public securities offerings, as well as general corporate governance and compliance.

Schneidman has been described by Chambers USA as having “superb business judgment” and, according to clients, ‘works people around to the right position in a gentlemanly way, enabling deals to get done more smoothly.’” He has also been recognized as an “Illinois Super Lawyer” by Super Lawyers magazine every year since 2006.

He served for a six-year term on the Committee on Corporate Laws of the American Bar Association. Schneidman is a board member of the OAR Educational and Mentoring Scholarship, NFP, and is a participant in the Evanston Illinois School District 65 Books & Breakfast and Fluency Tutoring programs.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and a Juris Doctor from Duke University in 1980. His father, Sam Schneidman, earned a degree from Quincy University in the 1930s, and his uncle, Edward Schneidman, a former mayor of Quincy, earned a degree from Quincy University in the 1920s. He resides in Evanston with his wife, Jean, who owns and operates a commercial bakery.

Retiring from the board in May were C. David Nuessen of the Class of 1969, who served on the board for nine years, and Fr. Tom Nairn of the Class of 1971, who served on the board for 15 years.

The Quincy University Board of Trustees has 29 members, and 18 of them are alumni of the university. While some trustees live in or near Quincy, other trustees live throughout the United States. Four board members are Franciscan friars.
