F. Dale Banning – Hansen-Spear

Banning-Dale

F. Dale Banning, age 80, of Quincy, went to be with his Lord on this 80th birthday, August 4, 2024 in Blessing Hospital.

Dale was born on August 4, 1944 in Quincy, a son of Virgil and Pauline Cook Banning.

Dale was the fruit of multiple northeast Missouri one room schoolhouses, as his family moved often in the area. He was blessed to be an early reader, a pleasure that enhanced his entire life. He attended La Plata High School, where he was active in sports and theatre. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1962.

Dale served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967, an experience that granted him tools for a successful life. Dale saved enough in the service to attend Culver Stockton College, where he studied business and accounting and worked nights at the Paper Mil and Barry’s.

After graduating college in 1970, Dale worked at Hildemann and Bryden where he learned the floor covering business. He then started his own business, Floor World, which he operated from 1972 until 1999, when he sold the business and retired.

As a young man, Dale was actively involved in coaching youth football, baseball and soccer. He was also active at St. James Lutheran School and church. Dale was a die-hard Chicago Cubs and Quincy Blue Devils fan.

His retirement hobbies included remodeling his houses, playing golf, tennis and pickleball. Dale loved history and was an avid reader. He enjoyed wintering at his home in Mesa, Arizona, where he belonged to Victory Lutheran Church. Most recently, he attended Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy.

Survivors include two children, David Michael Banning of Las Vegas, NV, and Julie Lynn (Charles) Meredith of Brooklyn, NY; a grandson, Destn Major Banning of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Jim (Sandra) Banning of Quincy; two sisters, Karen Buckman of Columbia, MO, and Sharon Pickens of Greentop, MO; nieces and nephews, including, Terry (Drew) Niemann, Shellie Rhea and James D.
