American Legion Post 55 in Hannibal installs new officers for 2024-25 term

HANNIBAL, Mo. — American Legion Post 55 recently installed new officers for the 2024-25 term. Officers installed were:

  • Rachel Bearce, Service officer 
  • Jim Current, Judge Advocate 
  • Maria Poindexter, Commander
  • Buck McAfee, Club Room trustee
  • Bob Koehn, Sergeant-at-Arms
  • Tom Tunner, Golf trustee 
  • Scott Seddon, Finance officer

Upcoming events and activities include the cemetery on Sept. 11, upgrading the kitchen, the Veterans Ball on Nov. 9 and the community Thanksgiving dinner.

American Legion also offers Boys State and Girls State and an oratorical contest for students in grades 9-12 who are eligible to win thousands of dollars in scholarships and Eagle Scout awards.

Membership is free for the first year for any veteran interested in joining. The legion also offers Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of the Legion and the Legion Riders. For more information on these programs, contact American Legion Commander Maria Poindexter at 228-327-1332.
