Joan A. Siebers, age 93, of Liberty, IL, died on Thursday, August 8, 2024 in the Good Samaritan Home. She was born on December 12, 1930 at home in Burton Township, Adams County, IL, the daughter of Carl A. & Alice E. (Ormond) Schmidt. She graduated from Liberty High School in 1948. She married Harold H. Siebers on April 16, 1952 in St. Brigid Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 30, 2002.

Joan was a lifelong and active member of St. Brigid Catholic Church. She participated in countless parish activities over the years and was the named a Catholic Woman of Distinction from St. Brigid in 2017. Alongside her husband, Joan was a dairy and grain farmer in Liberty and Payson area. Joan liked embroidery, cooking and gardening. Joan lived in the same farmhouse for 72 years and could look out of her kitchen window and see the windmill and farm where she was born and raised.

The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of the Good Samaritan Home for the wonderful care that they gave to Joan in the last two months.

Joan’s greatest joy was her family and she is survived by:
HER CHILDREN: Barb (Dave) Ellwood of Liberty, Nancy (Greg) Obert of Liberty, and Dorothy ‘Dot’ (Paul D.) Smith of Payson.
SON-IN-LAW: Danny Obert of Liberty.
11 GRANDCHILDREN: Jeff (Jody) Obert, Todd (Ginger) Obert, Brandy (Jeremy) Hocking, Jason Obert, Eric (Kayloni) Obert, Jake (Autumn) Ellwood, Justin (Emily) Obert, Kristin Obert, Nathan (fiancee Randi Rost) Obert, Kaylee Smith, and Kyler (Maggie Bowen) Smith.
20 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Justine, Zoey, and Harper Obert; Dalton and Alania Obert; Josie, Dylan, Mason and Allison Hocking; Lane and Cole Obert; Elijah, Raelee and Lyla Obert; Liam, Merrick, Daewin and Clarke Ellwood; James and Ava Obert.
SISTERS; Patricia Barry and Esther (Myron) Hofmeister.
BROTHER-IN-LAW: John Ryan
SISTER-IN-LAW: Janis Siebers.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives also survive.

In addition to her husband, Joan was also preceded in death by a daughter Mary Jo Obert, her parents, siblings: Eugene (Mary Florence) Schmidt, Rufus (Germaine) Schmidt, Rita (Herman) Huber, Raymond (Kathleen) Schmidt, Arlene Ryan, Donald Schmidt, and in-laws: Joe and Eleanor Siebers, brothers-in-law: Paul Barry, Eugene (Becky) Siebers and John (Dolores) Siebers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 10:30 AM in St. Brigid Catholic Church in Liberty. Interment in St. Brigid Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home and on Monday at St. Brigid Church from 9:30 AM until the time of the mass at 10:30 AM. Memorials may be made to St. Brigid Cemetery Fund or to the Liberty American Legion. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
