QUINCY — The Quincy Museum will hold a fundraising event featuring Col. Frank Furr as the keynote speaker at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, at the Quincy Country Club. This event aims to support The Quincy Museum’s 60th anniversary projects, 2025 exhibit lineup and essential capital projects.

President Dwight D. Eisenhower established a joint program between the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in 1954 to provide high-altitude aerial surveillance of the Soviet Union and China. This mission led to the development of the U-2 Dragon Lady, an iconic aircraft designed to address Cold War threats. Furr, with a career spanning 21 years, was instrumental in this mission, flying or directing the crucial intelligence operations.

Throughout his service, Furr amassed more than 3,500 flight hours in the USAF, including more than 1,500 hours dedicated to intelligence collection and more than 1,200 hours in combat. His notable contributions included top-secret missions during the Vietnam War, where he played a critical role in the insertion and extraction of Green Berets along the Ho Chi Mihn Trail.

In a press release, Quincy Museum Executive Director Katherine Roskamp-Ellerbrock said, “We are very fortunate that Col. Furr is coming to Quincy to share his experiences. To be able to host such a distinguished military man in Adams County is an honor.”

Tickets for the event are being managed by the Quincy Community Theater. Tickets can be purchased either through www.thequincymuseum.org, https://1qct.ludus.com/200463049 or by visiting the Quincy Community Theater box office. Ticket price is $100, which includes dinner.
