Nurse practitioner at Memorial Hospital appointed to American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners

CARTHAGE, Ill. — Memorial Hospital recently announced that Melissa Brewer, a nurse practitioner specializing in emergency care, has been appointed as the state representative of Illinois for the American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP).

The AAENP is a leading professional organization that promotes high-quality, evidence-based practice for nurse practitioners providing emergency care to patients of all ages and medical conditions. Through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, the academy aims to improve patient outcomes and set standards for excellence in emergency healthcare.

In Brewer’s new role with the AAENP, she will work alongside top professionals in the field to contribute to the academy’s core goals which are:

  • Establishing guidelines for quality and safety in emergency healthcare
  • Encouraging ongoing clinical education for other nurse practitioners in emergency care
  • Supporting specialized training and education to enhance skills in emergency settings
  • Facilitating and promoting research to advance emergency medical care
  • Collaborating with other health organizations and academic institutions to strengthen emergency care practices.
