QUINCY – Quincy University’s Gray Gallery in Brenner Library will be the site of an art exhibition featuring recent works from the Great River Watercolor Society members. The GRWS also will include its popular 2×2 paintings as well as new work produced in the last year.

The exhibit will run Nov. 1 through Dec. 9. It is free and open to the public. An artist’s reception will be held from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Gray Gallery. Refreshments will be served.

These artists share an interest in promoting the appreciation of and creating paintings using water-based mediums. The society membership consists of beginners and professionals.

The mission of the GRWS is to provide a venue for displaying their work, providing a formal critique of their paintings and bringing in outside artists, with varying ideas for watercolor workshops. Monthly meetings and workshops are held at Quincy University. Membership is open to anyone interested in and active in watercolor painting. Meetings include a time of sharing and critique. Membership is $20 a year.

The Gray Gallery is open 8:30 a.m. – 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Friday and 5-11 p.m. Sunday.
