Memorial Hospital to host fall cooking class focused on diabetes on Oct. 30

CARTHGE, Ill. — Memorial Hospital’s Health and Wellness Teaching Kitchen’s fall edition of Balanced Bites: Cooking for Diabetes, which promotes diabetes wellness through healthy cooking, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the Health and Wellness Center at Memorial Hospital, 1454 N. County Road 2050.

Led by Kayce Fuhrman, registered nurse, and Ashlyn Housewright, registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist, participants will learn how to prepare delicious, diabetes-friendly meals.

The cost is $25. Attendees will enjoy a healthy lunch, gain insights into diabetes wellness, receive meal preparation strategies and take home recipes perfect for the fall season. This event is open to anyone aged 18 and older.

“Balanced Bites is a wonderful opportunity for individuals with diabetes to learn about nutritious cooking and how to manage their condition effectively,” Housewright said in a press release. “Our goal is to empower people with the knowledge and skills they need to lead a healthier lifestyle.”
