QUINCY — John Wood Community College Business and Industry Training is offering a social media class, LinkedIn for Business, from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 26. The class is open to the public. No application is necessary. People are required to make a reservation to attend. The class will take place at JWCC’s Workforce Development Center, 4220 Koch’s Lane.

In the 3-hour LinkedIn workshop, participants will learn how to transform their profile from a boring resume into a dynamic and effective sales page that drives leads for their business. Andrew Skattebo with BrickStreet Data Systems will show participants:

  • how to create a profile layout that works as a sales and marketing page
  • how get LinkedIn to notify their contacts of latest products and services for free
  • where to put their most popular services so they show up in LinkedIn searches
  • when and how to use a business page
  • the difference between posts versus articles and how to use each
  • how to use groups to increase their reach and results
  • how to tell if one of LinkedIn’s paid options is right for them.

Real examples of what works will be shown. If participants want to get “hands-on,” they can follow along with their own profile.

Participants will be asked to wear face coverings. Social distancing will be maintained. The cost for each course is $65 per person. For more information or to RSVP, contact the Workforce Development Center at 217-641-4971 or wdc@jwcc.edu.
