Local women can enroll for free mammograms Tuesday as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

CARTHAGE, Ill. — October marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Illinois Breast and Cervical Cancer Program and the Hancock County Health Department are partnering with Quincy Medical Group to offer free mammograms to Illinois residents who are either uninsured or have high-deductible health plans.

Eligible individuals are invited to visit Quincy Medical Group at 1118 Hampshire in Quincy from 9 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Oct. 8. During this event, participants can complete an enrollment application and consult with medical professionals specializing in breast cancer screenings. Those who qualify for the program can either receive their mammogram on the same day or schedule one for a later date.

Participants should bring these documents to the event:

  • Income verification (two most recent paycheck stubs or recent 1040 tax forms)
  • Age verification (driver’s license copy, ID card or birth certificate)
  • Insurance verification (copy of the front and back of your card)
