Mike Anderson, "The Dulcimer Guy," will perform Thursday at The Lincoln-Douglas Debate Museum in recognition of the 166th anniversary of the debate.

QUINCY — October marks the 166th anniversary of Quincy’s Lincoln-Douglas debate. To recognize this anniversary, the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Museum at 128 N. Fifth will hold a History Happy Hour program on Thursday, Oct. 10, at the museum with a special musical presentation by author and musician Mike Anderson.

Known as “The Dulcimer Guy,” Anderson is a mountain dulcimer player and a folk musician who utilizes the banjo, jaw harp, bones and nose flute. With his mastery of these period instruments and a knack for storytelling, Anderson brings the music and times of Abraham Lincoln to life. Join him for songs and stories from the Civil War era.

Doors for History Happy Hour open at 5 p.m. with a mini reception that includes light refreshments. The presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a question-and-answer session and book signing to follow. The public is welcome. There is no cost to attend. Donations to the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Museum will be accepted on site.

The Lincoln-Douglas Debate Museum is open to the public Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed Sundays and most major holidays with no cost to attend.
