Two arrested for gunfire incident near Quincy University

QUINCY – A man and woman were arrested Saturday following a Friday night incident where shots were fired near the Quincy University campus on North 18th Street.

The incident took place just before 11 p.m. Friday where witnesses said two people were asked to leave a party in the 500 block of North 18th. According to witnesses, after being asked to leave, the man pulled out a handgun and fired several shots into the air before leaving the scene with a woman in a white pickup.

At about 4 p.m. Saturday, a Quincy woman, Enedina Serna, 26, was interviewed and taken into custody regarding the incident. She is in the Adams County Jail facing charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and obstructing justice.

A warrant was then issued for Darren Callier, 28, of Quincy, and he was arrested and is being held in the Marion County Jail in Palmyra. He faces charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Police are calling this an isolated incident.
