‘Chicken, chicken, chicken! What combo are you pickin’?’: Raising Cane’s opens on Broadway
QUINCY — After months of anticipation, Raising Cane’s finally opened Tuesday in Quincy at 3601 Broadway.
More than 100 people were in line at the grand opening. Cane’s offered its usual menu of chicken, Texas toast, coleslaw and, of course, Cane’s sauce. The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to midnight Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Employee chants and music from a DJ filled the parking lot as hundreds of people waited in line in anticipation of the chicken finger restaurant’s grand opening.
“I am super excited. The town’s been in need of a fantastic restaurant like this,” Quincy resident Andrew Boll said. “The town is growing. This will liven the city up.”
Raising Cane’s offered a “Lucky 20” raffle where 20 people present won free food for a year. A commemorative hat and free box combo card were given to the first 100 customers to buy a combo.
“This was very well received by the community,” said Joel Donato, area leader of restaurants for Raising Cane’s. “One hundred and twenty were waiting in line for us with a few people camping overnight for some of these prizes.”
Joshua Hetzler was first in line, camping out from 11:56 p.m. Monday to open to ensure he was one of the first 100 to arrive.
“I was pretty excited as the moment kept coming to fruition,” Hetzler said. “This is a really cool moment that I get to be a part of.”
Raising Cane’s donated $1,000 to Quincy University athletics. The QU stunt team and Quincy Notre Dame pom squad performed.
“We’re already getting engaged in the community’s excellent schools and look forward to partnering with local not-for-profit organizations as part of our ongoing commitment to giving back,” Donato said in a press release.
As the only Raising Cane’s within a two hour drive, the Quincy restaurant brings more than 100 jobs to the community.
The restaurant boasts a large outdoor and double-lane drive-thru.
