Barbara Ann Peters — Duker & Haugh
Barbara Ann Peters age 90, of Quincy, IL died on Sunday, October 13, 2024 in Bickford Cottage surrounded by all of her family. Barbara was born in Quincy on December 4, 1933, a daughter of John and Katherine (Dittmer) Bruening. She married Ralph H. Peters, Jr. on September 27, 1952, in Quincy and he preceded her in death on June 10, 2022.
Barb was a graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish and the Holy Rosary Society. Ralph and Barbara were the inspiration for the beginning of the Haiti Medical Mission in 2001. Barb also participated in the TEC, Marriage and Engaged Encounter and Cursillo programs.
She and Ralph were members of the Quincy Boat Club and they enjoyed boating and fishing together.
Barb’s family was the center of her life. Her dog Sandy was also very special to her. Barb enjoyed painting with watercolors and crocheting. She was well known for her wonderful coconut cream pies.
Survivors include her 8 children Greg & Meg (Cox) Peters, Jeff and Amy (Landes) Peters, Steve and Cindy (Wellman) Peters, Sheri (Peters) Polignone and her husband Peter, Victoria (Peters) Miller and her husband James, Karen (Peters) Greenwell and her husband Doug, Kevin and Renea (Hinkamper) Peters, Tim Peters and his wife Kristie Swaim.
There are 32 grandchildren, 61 Great grandchildren, and one Great Great grandchild.
Survivors also include numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ralph.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Interment in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, October,18, 2024 2022, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Haiti Mission or to Blessed Sacrament Church.
