Lane restrictions in place for bridge painting project scheduled to begin Friday on northbound U.S. 61
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Bridge painting work will begin on northbound U.S. 61 over Norfolk Southern Railroad and over Bear Creek in Ralls County, just north of Warren Barrett Drive, on Friday, Oct. 18.
Motorists can expect delays as the following traffic impacts will be in place for the duration of the project:
- One-lane on northbound U.S. 61 between Warren Barrett Drive and Market Street intersections
- Reduced speed
- Width restrictions requiring oversized loads to be directed over other state routes
- Right-in / right-out only at Red Devil Road and Warren Barrett Drive
- Red Devil Road can only be accessed off southbound U.S. 61
- Temporary closure of the U.S. 61 median crossover at Warren Barrett / Red Devil Road
Drivers can learn more about the specific traffic impacts by viewing the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDXxlS1hx0w, which was created to help keep drivers informed.
All work is weather-dependent. Schedules are subject to change. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur.
Omega Coatings & Construction, LLC was awarded the contract this spring for $431,430.80. Anticipated completion of the bridge painting work is scheduled for Nov. 1.
Included in this bridge painting contract is an additional bridge located on U.S. 54, over West Fork Cuivre River in Audrain County, which is in progress.
