Culver-Stockton College Theatre Department to present ‘Crimes of the Heart’ Friday through Sunday
CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College’s Theatre Department’s upcoming production of “Crimes of the Heart,” the Pulitzer Prize-winning dark comedy about family ties and the resilience of the human spirit by Beth Henley, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 8-9 and at 3 p.m. on Nov. 10 in the Mabee Little Theatre.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and seniors and free for C-SC students, faculty and staff.
Set in the small town of Hazelhurst, Miss., “Crimes of the Heart” follows the lives of the three Magrath sisters — Lenny, Meg, and Babe — as they reunite for the first time since Hurricane Camille. Facing a series of challenges and uncovering deep-seated family tensions, the sisters navigate love, loss and a crime that threatens to tear their family apart. Each sister’s struggles and the universal themes of family and forgiveness make this play moving and thought-provoking.
The production, directed by Culver-Stockton Theatre faculty, is an exploration of Southern family life, combining Henley’s sharp wit and engaging dialogue with a cast of C-SC students.
