Ribbon cutting scheduled Friday for Missouri Route 79 bridge project

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the bridge replacement project on Missouri Route 79 over Bear Creek, Norfolk Southern Railroad and Warren Barrett Drive is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Jaycee grandstand at 320 S. Third.

The public is invited.

Construction began on the project early this year to replace the bridge known as the Hannibal Viaduct. The new bridge also includes an ADA compliant shared use path for pedestrians and cyclists.

KCI Construction Company of St. Louis was the contractor on the project, which was designed by HNTB Corporation of St. Louis.
