Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum book club meeting Tuesday to discuss ‘James’ by Percival Everett
HANNIBAL, Mo. — Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum will host its first book club at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the museum gallery at 120 N. Main. The book of discussion will be New York Times best seller “James” by Percival Everett.
A description of the book by Amazon calls it “a brilliant, action-packed re-imagining of ‘Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,’ both harrowing and darkly humorous, told from the enslaved Jim’s point of view.”
“James” is in development as a feature film to be produced by Steven Spielberg. It was reviewed as a Best Book of the Year so Far for 2024 by The New York Times Book Review, Esquire, W Magazine, Bustle and LitHub.
Copies of “James” will be available for purchase in the museum gallery gift shop.
An RSVP is not required but is suggested. Contact the museum at 573-221-9010, ext 403.
The club meets every other month.
