Two from Mississippi injured when car loses control on ice, snow on bridge near Palmyra
PALMYRA, Mo. — A 2013 Toyota Tacoma traveling southbound on U.S. 61, three miles north of Palmyra, lost control on a bridge covered with snow and ice and struck the bridge at 11:50 a.m. Saturday.
Information from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicated the driver, a 33-year-old man from South Haven, Miss., sustained moderate injuries. A 33-year-old woman, also from South Haven and a passenger in the vehicle, sustained minor injuries.
Both people were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. They were transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.
The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Part’s Towing.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Palmyra Fire Department provided assistance.
