Carolyn Sue “Susie” Guinn – Bienhoff Funeral Home
Funeral services for Carolyn Sue “Susie” Guinn, 84, of Vandalia, will be at 11:00 AM Friday, December 20, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Vandalia with pastor Brian Lehenbauer officiating. Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at the Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Home.
Mrs. Guinn passed away at 11:00 AM Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Baptist Home of Tri-County in Vandalia.
Susie was born on February 25, 1940, in Eolia, the daughter of Major and Kathyrn Howdeshell Akers.
She married Louis B. Clithero on January 3, 1959, in Eolia. She later married George Kester (Mike) Guinn on January 31, 1981, in Placida, Florida and he preceded her in death on May 16, 2011.
Survivors include: two sons; Darin Clithero of Vandalia and David (Ellen) Clithero of Columbia, two daughters; Lorna Warren of Higginsville and Lori Dorman of Columbia, one sister; Sally Ann Girard of Vandalia, four step sons; Michael (Susan) Guinn of Junction City, KS, Jeff (Kim) Guinn of Columbia, Rick (Denise) Guinn of Arcadia, Florida, and Larry Guinn of St. Louis, one step daughter; Becky Spires of Port Charlotte, FL, nineteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and numerous step great grandchildren, along with other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Mike Guinn, and one infant brother, James Robert Akers.
Susie was a 1958 graduate of Clopton High School and would later work many professions but her favorite was a school bus driver for Van-Far where she transported votech students. Susie was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Vandalia, where she was always there to lend a hand with Sunday School or providing a meal for the many parishioners. She was also a member of the Eastern Star where she served as a worthy matron. Some of her favorite activities were cooking, embroidery, and ceramics but most of all she enjoyed her time spent with family.
Pallbearers will be Josh Davis, Joseph Clithero, Nathan Rock, John Guinn, Luke Guinn, and Matthew Guinn.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School class.
