The Brown County Sheriff’s Office reports the following activity:

TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS: Unless stated, no injuries were reported and damage to the vehicle was over $1500.00.

12/05/2024:
Bobbi A. Sipes, Rushville was traveling on IL 99 and was attempting to turn into the DOT Foods parking lot and was struck by a vehicle operated by Stewart A. Matthews, Jacksonville.
12/08/2024:
Barbara J. Yingling, Mt. Sterling; struck a deer on 1700 500E St.
12/10/2024:
Tierza J. Stephens, Mt. Sterling: Struck a deer on US 24.
12/14/2024:
On 12/14/2024 at approximately 6 AM a vehicle driven by a male from Jacksonville struck a vehicle head on at US 24 in front of Nutrient Ag Service. The driver of that vehicle was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. A passenger, Lena Gibson, from Jacksonville was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the other vehicle was treated and released with minor injuries. The accident investigation was handled by the Illinois State Police, and they are also doing traffic reconstruction. A full investigation report will be released later.
