Two injured Tuesday morning when vehicle overturns on Missouri Route C

MONROE CITY, Mo. — A single-vehicle accident on Missouri Route C, 10 miles north of Monroe City, at approximately 6:55 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17, resulted in injuries to a woman and a child from Philadelphia, Mo.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Tesla Model Y was traveling eastbound when it veered off the right side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned.

The driver, a 33-year-old woman, suffered significant injuries despite wearing a seat belt. She was transported by Monroe City EMS to Hannibal Regional Hospital. A 5-year-old boy, also wearing a seat belt, was a passenger in the vehicle. He sustained minor injuries and also was taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital by EMS.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Monroe City Fire Department provided assistance.
