Ever wonder what stopping at a McDonald’s in another country might be like? Sit back and buckle in, amigos … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 1,149 of The Daily Dirt.
1. Here are some of the wackiest items you’ll find at McDonald’s outside the of the continental United States:
In no particular order, these are some of the Golden Arches’ worldwide delicacies.
- Spam Musubi in Hawaii: A slice of grilled Spam on a block of rice wrapped in seaweed.
- McAloo Tiki in India: A spicy potato and pea patty served with a special mayo sauce and all sorts of toppings.
- McPoutine in Canada: Considered a beloved Canadian comfort food. McDonald’s up north serve fries topped with cheese curds and gravy.
- McChoco potatoes in Japan: Consists of McDonald’s fries drizzled with two types of chocolate sauce.
- McFalafel in Sweden: A popular vegetarian item that showcases falafels, lettuce, tomato, cucumber and garlic sauce. A falafel is a deep-fried ball or patty-shaped fritter.
- McPaneer Royal in India: Paneer is Indian cottage cheese and one of the most popular items in Indian cuisine. It’s used in fried form in a vegetarian burger, along with lettuce and a special sauce.
- Sakuramochie pie in Japan: Filled with bean paste and sakura-flavored mochi and resembles the apple and cherry pies served at stateside McDonald’s outlets.
- Kiwi burger in New Zealand: This burger has a beef patty, fried egg, lettuce, tomato onion, cheese, mustard and ketchup.
- McLobster in Canada: Lobster meet is mixed with mayonnaise, lettuce and a few other items served in a hot dog bun.
- Prosperity burger in Malaysia: Features a beef or chicken patty with black pepper sauce.
- McHotdog in Brazil: You’ll get sausage, ground beef, cheese, lettuce and special sauce all engulfed in a soft bun.
- Sausage double-beef burger in China: This monster features two beef patties, two links of sausage, cheese, lettuce and mayo.
- Bulgogi burger in South Korea: A huge beef patty marinated in bulgogi sauce topped with lettuce, cheese, onions, tomato and mayo.
- McLanche Feliz De Camaro Com Aroz in Brazil: Would you believe a breaded shrimp patty on a bun with rice and fries?
- McArabia in the United Arab Emirates: Features grilled chicken, fresh vegetables and tahini sauce, all wrapped in flatbread.
- Pizza McPuff in India: On the surface it resembles the traditional McDonald’s apple pie, but it’s much, much different. It’s a pizza-like filling wrapped in a flaky pastry and deep fried.
- Bacon, macaroni and cheese Toastie in the United Kingdom: Macaroni, cheese, bacon and bread, which is toasted until a golden brown.
2. Did you know (Part 221)
- That the average American buys 53 pieces of new clothing each year.
- That more than 90 percent of the U.S. population growth since 2020 has come from Hispanics.
- That the fastest badminton ever played reached a speed of 351 mph.
- That residential lawns in the U.S. use up an average of about 9 billion gallons of water each day for watering purposes. I presume that figure is even higher during the spring an summer months.
- That in 2020 Burger King ran an advertising campaign featuring a picture of a moldy Whopper to prove their burgers are preservative free. The ad wound up boosting sales by 14 percent.
