DAILY DIRT: Look for a lot of 2025 kids to be named Jasper, Archer, Poppy, Alora, and Amara
Daily Dirt for Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024
But … but … but … what about Steve? … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 1,150 of The Daily Dirt.
1. Well, it appears 2025 might be an interesting year when it comes to new and adventurous baby names.

I thoroughly enjoy the new names, but an occasional Mary, Beth, John, Bob, David or … hmmm, Steve? would be nice to see, too.
2. Did You know that (Part 222)
- That research has found that about 10 percent of all adults in the U.S. 65 and older have dementia, while another 22 percent have a mild cognitive impairment. (For the record, I’m 71 … hmmm.)
- That about 90 percent of the prostitution that occurs in Nevada is illegal, despite the legality of the brothels in pretty much the entire state.
- That women outlive men by an average of seven years worldwide.
- That Blackberries represented 43 percent of all smartphones sold in 2010. By 2013, that figure had dropped to 5 percent. Last year, the term to describe Blackberry sales was “negligible”.
- That conjoined twins occur once every 50,000 to 60,000 births, and 70 percent of those twins are female.
3. Our weekly birthday wishes go to these celebrities:
- Actor Ray Romano is 67 today. “Everyone Loves Raymond” remains one of the classic sitcoms ever.
- Actress Jane Fonda also has a birthday today. She is 87. Years from now, will she be remembered more as an actress or an activist?
- TV host Ryan Seacrest turns 50 on Tuesday. No matter what he accomplishes in his life, he will always be synonymous with “American Idol”.
- Former NFL running back Larry Csonka will be 78 on Christmas Day. The Zonk!
- Singer Barbara Mandrell reaches 77 on Dec. 26. She was country, when country wasn’t cool.
Steve Thought O’ The Day – If there are 365 days in a year, why did we only name seven of them?
Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. It’s not dementia. Steve had a stroke.
