Homeless man on probation for sexual abuse conviction and pretrial release for failing to register arrested again
QUINCY — A homeless man from Quincy was arrested last week on multiple sex offender charges.
Officers with the Quincy Police Department were dispatched on Saturday, Jan. 4, to a residence in the 300 block of North 13th Street after several people reported finding Cody Robertson, 25, in bed with a female who was only 14 years old. Robertson left the residence before the officers arrived. The minor victim was turned over to her mother, and items of evidence were collected. No injuries were reported.
Detectives with the Quincy Police Department began interviewing witnesses and learned Robertson had failed to notify law enforcement of his employment and where he lived. Robertson was found on Jan. 7 walking with the same juvenile girl on the southwest side of Quincy. He was placed under arrest, and the juvenile girl was again returned to her mother. Robertson was lodged in the Adams County Jail.
Robertson made his first appearance in Adams County Circuit Court on Wednesday, Jan. 8, and was charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim between the ages of 13-17, a Class 2 felony, and two counts of failing to register as a sex offender, a Class 3 felony. Associate Judge Josh Jones denied Robertson’s request for pretrial release.
A preliminary hearing for Robertson is scheduled for Jan. 14.
Adams County court records show that at the time of the offense, Robertson was on probation for a 2023 conviction for aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a different minor. He also was arrested in August 2024 for failing to register as a sex offender, and he was given pretrial release on that charge.
