Those wacky senior citizens may be older, but their acronyms show they are young at heart … Welcome to today’s three thoughts that make up Vol. 1,168 of The Daily Dirt.

1. Everyone has a BFF who they enjoy LOL with, and that goes for the old-timers among us.

But when you reach a certain age, those familiar acronyms — or “initialisms” as many are now calling them — can take on an entirely new and different meaning.

A few months ago, we introduced you to a number of these age appropriate acronyms. Here are a few more:

  • DWI: Driving While Incontinent.
  • BFF: Best Friend Fell.
  • FWIW: Forgot Where I Was.

GGPBL: Gotta Go, Pacemaker Battery Low

  • FWIW: Forgot Where I Was.
  • BTW: Bring The Wheelchair.
  • ROFLCGU: Rolling On The Floor Laughing And Can’t Get Up.
  • BYOT: Bring Your Own Teeth.
  • LOL: Living On Lipitor.
  • OMG: Ouch, My Groin!
  • IMHO: Is My Hearing-Aid On?
  • TTYL: Talk To You Louder.

2. Did you know (Part 241)

  • That if the Statue of Liberty wore shoes, her size would be 879.
  • That the letter “Q” is the only letter that does not appear in the name of any American state.
  • That an average of 30 people die each year in the U.S. in elevator accidents, and about 17,000 are injured. Around 900,000 elevators are currently operating in the U.S.
  • That Japan has more than 20 flavors of KitKat candy bars.
  • That Krispy Kreme doughnuts and Pop Tarts are teaming up for a series of pastries, including Chocolate Fudge, Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon and Frosted Strawberry. There is a small Pop Tart included on the top of each doughnut. Not sure how that will taste but looks mighty interesting.

3. I would guess only the hardest-core rock fans might know this, and I’ll be the first to admit I was completely surprised a few days ago when I found out that way back in 1964 the Rolling Stones WROTE and SANG a jingle for Rice Krispies.

One of the best lines is, “Wake up in the morning, there’s a crackle in your face”.

That same year the Stones released “Time Is On My Side,” but had not scored their first No. 1 hit, “Satisfaction,” which came in February 1965.

Steve Thought O’ The Day – Speaking of the Stones, their first No. 1 album, “Out of our Heads,” came in late 1965. The band did not top the LP charts again until “Sticky Fingers” in the spring of 1971, which was the first of eight straight No. 1 albums released over the ensuing decade.

Steve Eighinger writes daily for Muddy River News. Sometimes, he needs to just STFU.
