QUINCY — The five remaining members of the Quincy Park District Board of Commissioners voted to fill its two vacant seats at Wednesday night’s meeting.

Following a closed session, commissioners approved Dave Hogge and Dave Grimm to the board. Cecil Weathers and Harrison Clark had also applied for the vacancies.

Hogge served from 1999 to 2007 on the Park Board and was the board’s president for three years.

Hogge said he had no intention of running for board, but threw his hat in to provide some stability following the December resignations of Trent Lyons and John Frankenhoff. Lyons had leveled accusations of bullying and intimidation against Frankenhoff and a staff member came forward to concur with Lyons’ sentiment. Frankenhoff resigned on Dec. 20 after being sanctioned by his fellow commissioners over his actions.

Grimm, however is on the April ballot to run for a seat as is Cecil Weathers, who was also under consideration. Incumbent Park Board member Barb Holthaus is also on the ballot with Greg Artz and Josh Crabtree.

Before going into closed session to discuss filling the vacancies, commissioners heard final 2024 numbers from Westview Golf Course as the course saw nearly 3,000 more rounds of golf than in 2023.

There were 42,735 rounds played in 2024 at the course.

Commissioners also approved an ordinance allowing the Park District to sell about $1.2 million in bonds to pay for its 2025 capital projects.
