Memorial Hospital recognized by Becker’s Review among top U.S. hospitals for patient recommendations
CARTHAGE, Ill. — According to Becker’s Review, a leading healthcare publication, Memorial Hospital recently was recognized as one of the top 464 hospitals in the United States that patients would highly recommend. This recognition is based on data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
Becker’s Review compiled the list using data from the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, which assess patient experiences across the country. Among more than 5,000 hospitals in the U.S., Memorial Hospital is one of only 11 hospitals in Illinois to receive this distinction. Fewer than 10 percent of hospitals nationwide made the list.
CMS evaluates hospitals using 10 HCAHPS star ratings, one of which is the patient’s response to the critical question “Would you recommend this hospital to your friends and family?” To qualify for a star rating, hospitals must collect at least 100 completed HCAHPS surveys in a fourth-quarter period.
In a press release, Shelly Hunter, director of inpatient services at Memorial Hospital, said, “We are incredibly proud to be recognized by Becker’s Review and CMS for our commitment to patient satisfaction and high-quality care. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and compassion of our entire healthcare team, who work tirelessly to provide an exceptional experience for every patient.”
