Documentary film ‘The 1916 Project’ about Planned Parenthood coming to Quincy Jan. 26 at Bethel Church
QUINCY — The documentary film, “The 1916 Project”, will be shown at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26 at Bethel Church, 12th and Jefferson.
The film discusses the dark history of Planned Parenthood and its founder Margret Sanger. The public is invited this documentary, which will be shown free of charge.
“The 1916 Project” uncovers the legacy of Sanger and her deep ties to the eugenics movement, a pseudoscientific belief aimed at “improving” humanity by controlling who could reproduce. This ideology targeted marginalized groups — especially people of color, the poor and those with disabilities — justifying policies like forced sterilizations and treating human lives as disposable.
Through historical research and expert analysis, the film reveals how Sanger’s ideologies have shaped the modern cultural landscape. From the promotion of abortion to the breakdown of family structures and the rise of gender confusion, “The 1916 Project” exposes the enduring impact of her influence, particularly on communities of color.
In a press release, Rev. Todd Hastings of Bethel Assembly of God Church said, “After watching this film, I knew we wanted to show it in our community. The connections between the abortion industry and the spiritual deterioration of our culture are stunning. Regardless of your political perspective, the film is very enlightening.”
