Tri-State Speed Puzzling and Cubing Competition set for March 8 to benefit Connect Child and Family Solutions

QUINCY — The inaugural Tri-State Speed Puzzling and Cubing Competition will be held from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 8 at the Ambiance, 5225 Koch’s Lane.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Connect Child and Family Solutions, a community-based, non-profit organization providing support to foster children and families.

Hosted by the Optimist Club of Quincy, this family-friendly event features a 500-piece timed puzzle competition and a Rubik’s cube competition. The timed puzzle event is open to people ages 16 and over. The cubing competition will have two age divisions: ages 13 and over and ages 12 and under. The event is open to the public and free to spectators.

Entry and check-in begin at 12:30 p.m. A free puzzle swap for the public will take place at 12:30 p.m. The speed puzzle competition will begin at 1:30 p.m. Costs for puzzling teams of two is $50 and teams of four is $80. The cubing competition will start at 1:45 p.m., and the fee to play is $20 per cuber. Prizes will be awarded.

An original iconic Quincy commemorative puzzle will be used and available for purchase to those entered in the 500-puzzle-piece timed competition. Any additional puzzles will be available for purchase at the Quincy Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.
