QUINCY — Quincy University announced Wednesday that, during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, it has surpassed the largest fundraising year in university history by 31 percent.

The university has raised $13.7 million between June 1, 2024, and Dec. 31, 2024, topping the $10.4 million raised during the 2021-22 academic year.

“Today marks a significant moment in Quincy University’s history,” QU President Brian McGee said in a press release. “Thanks to the unprecedented generosity of our donors, and with several months left in the academic year, we already have achieved a record-breaking milestone that underscores our continuing progress and momentum at QU.”

Donations totaling $8.3 million were made to the university in November and December 2024. Several anonymous donors have made multi-million-dollar gifts to QU, including the largest individual gifts in the history of the university.

“This achievement is more than just a number. It is a testament to the trust and confidence our alumni, friends and partners place in us,” said Ralph Oakley, chair of the board of trustees. “Together, we are building a brighter future for our students and faculty, the Quincy community and the entire tri-state region. We are proud to be a college on the move, and this milestone inspires us to aim even higher as we chart the next chapter of our journey.”

The past six years have been six of the seven largest fundraising years in QU history.

“At a time when so many students and families are facing tough financial situations, we are committed to continue seeking financial support in order to make a quality QU education a reality for them,” Oakley said. “We are dedicated to ensuring QU meets the needs of our students and families for years to come.”

The university recently began degree programs in electrical and mechanical engineering. It announced in late 2024 plans to launch new clinical doctoral programs in the health sciences.

“Our new degree programs and continued work on our Success by Design program, where each student has a personalized success plan, demonstrating our commitment to meeting the needs of our students and community,” McGee said. “We are proud of all that is being accomplished at this wonderful Catholic and Franciscan university.”
