Culver-Stockton College professor recognized for contribution to book

CANTON, Mo. — Andrew D. Walsh, professor of religion and philosophy at Culver-Stockton College, has been recognized for his contribution to The Routledge Handbook of Politics and Religion in Contemporary America, a comprehensive volume that explores the intersection of politics and religion in contemporary society.

The book, edited by Jeffrey Hayes and leading scholars in the field, brings together a range of voices to address key themes, including the role of religion in political life, secularism and religious freedom. Walsh contributed a chapter titled “Religion & Political Economy.”

Walsh joined Culver-Stockton College in August 2001. He has received several awards for teaching including the Helsabeck Prize for Excellence in Teaching and the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Missouri Department of Education. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion and the Society of Christian Ethics. He also presented a paper at the national meeting of the American Academy of Religion titled, “William Jennings Bryan, Evangelicals, and the Democratic Party.”
