Dorothy Louise (Allen) Hayden — Hansen-Spear
Dorothy Louise (Allen) Hayden, age 94, of Quincy, went to her lord and savoir Jesus Christ early Friday morning, January 31st, 2025 in Good Samaritan Home.
Dorothy was born on May 19th, 1930, one of nine children to Lonnie and Victoria Bays Allen in Reno, Texas. She married the love of her life, Merle A. Hayden on December 18th, 1948 by the late Rev. Homer Brown, in Pittsfield, Illinois. Merle preceded her in death on October 29th, 2010.
She retired from Quincy Medical Group in 1992 after 25 years as Dr. James Bitter’s surgical nurse, a job that she loved. Dorothy was also a proud member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Fowler, Illinois. Her deep faith in the Lord was what truly made her into the woman that everyone admired. Her love for family was a quality that she passed down to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as you could always count on her being at events and being their biggest supporter. But her favorite thing to do was deliver Underbrinks cupcakes and cookies to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. The love shown by her is something that will be cherished by all that she touched and you could count on every visit or chat to end with “I love you so much!” And that she did.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Michael (Shirley) Hayden of Mendon, IL; a daughter, Vickie Frese-Crimmins of Quincy, four grandchildren, Thomas (Tiffany) Frese of Quincy, Jacob (Alex) Hayden of Park Ridge, IL, Sarah (Robert) Jubina, of Indianapolis, IN and Sean Harris of Weaver, IA; eight great grandchildren; Camryn (Ryan) Frese Houston, Payden, Ian and Harper Frese; Amelia and Abigail Hayden & Hayden and Kennedy Jubina. She also had numerous nieces and nephews that she adored.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a infant son (Robert Wayne), a grandson, Timothy Frese, two son-in-laws, Robert Frese and Michael Crimmins, five sisters, Robbie Casteel, Geraldine Tharp, Alonzolee Curry, Mary Elba Morrison and Gladys Wideman, three brothers Grady and twins Morris and Norris Allen and several nieces and nephews.
