Erma Lee ‘Candy’ Benge – Duker & Haugh

Erma Lee ‘Candy’ Benge, age 79, passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1945 in Quincy, IL the daughter of Richard & Irene (Beckman) Beaston. Erma married William J E Benge on October 29, 1962. He survives.

Candy worked at Motorola and later was a proud graduate of the John Wood Community College LPN Program. She retired from Sunset Home as an LPN after over 20 years of service. She enjoyed her Nursing career and caring for others.

After her retirement, she enjoyed puzzle games, words with friends, and enjoyed cuddling with here 16 pound grand-daughter cat, Itty. She was a giving, fun loving, hard working wife, mother, daughter, sister and sister-in-law. She loved her family with all of her heart.

Candy will be missed greatly by all those who were fortunate to have known and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Candy is also survived by: her son Bill Benge (Lisa); Brothers: Jack Beaston of Placerville, CA; Mike Beaston (Sassy) of Thailand. Donna Davison (Ken) of Ozark, MO; and Frank Beaston (Diane) of Quincy. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

Candy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Nell Bailey and Verda Roser, brothers: Richard Beaston Jr., and Rodney Williams.

A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 3:00 PM in the Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 from 1:00 PM until the time of the services. Memorials may be made to the Blessing Cancer Center or the Quincy Humane Society. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
