Robert “Bob” Blevins — O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Blevins-Bob

Robert “Bob” Blevins, 88, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL.

Bob was born December 13, 1936, in Griggsville, IL to Garland and Mary (Tedrow) Blevins. He was married to Linda L. Wade on April 29, 1956, in Griggsville, IL. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2014.

Survivors include two sons Robert M. Blevins and Raymond “Matt” Blevins both of Quincy; one daughter Tracie Pepper (Tom) of Quincy; ten grandchildren, Brant Blevins, Lacee Blevins, Bruce Blevins (Jennifer), Ryan Blevins, Patience Blevins (Geoff), Mary Blevins, Lindsey Parson (Levi), Kylie Cole, Shelby Miller (Eric), and Angie Peters (Andy); 20 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and several loving nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and one son, Richard Blevins.

A man of strong work ethic, Bob graduated from Griggsville High School in 1954 and embarked on a career that showcased his versatility and commitment. He began as a barber with Marion Wiseman before taking to the waters as a deckhand on barges. Eventually, Bob found his calling as a route driver for Pepsi, a role he held for 35 years until his well-deserved retirement. He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Parish.

Bob’s interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid outdoorsman, he relished pheasant hunting and often traveled to Iowa for hunting trips. His love for the outdoors extended to his home, where he found peace and satisfaction in tending to his yard. A sports enthusiast, Bob loyally supported the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Pittsburgh Steelers, his enthusiasm for his teams as enduring as his love for his family.

When not outside or cheering on his favorite teams, Bob could be found indulging in his love for westerns or staying informed with Fox News. Yet, above all, it was his family that brought him the greatest joy. Bob was a constant presence in the lives of his children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to be involved in their activities and celebrations. His story is one of a life well-lived, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation that will be Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Graveside Service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Quincy Memorial Park in Quincy. Rev. Patrick Smith will officiate.
