United Way of Adams County, Quincy Public Schools partner to support student mental health

QUINCY — The United Way of Adams County Community Building Council Behavioral Health Team is partnering with Quincy Public Schools to offer details on specific mental health resources available in the community. This collaborative effort will increase awareness of vital information to help educational staff connect students with support services.

The Community Building Council Behavioral Health Team is dedicated to improving awareness, access and education regarding mental health and substance use disorder services. The team’s key strategies include raising awareness to normalize treatment and removing barriers to essential mental health services. Efforts are guided by data from the Community Needs Assessment 2024 Update.

  • Blessing Health
  • Chaddock
  • Clarity Healthcare
  • Cornerstone
  • Horizons
  • Quanada
  • Quincy Medical Group
  • Southern Illinois University Medicine Quincy
  • Transitions of Western Illinois

In a press release, Natalie Cornwell, director of community impact and resource reinvestment for United Way of Adams County, said, “These organizations are crucial partners in our efforts. Their passion and commitment to meeting the needs of Adams County residents is evident in everything they do, and I see it firsthand during our monthly meetings.

“Our mission is to connect as many residents as possible with the vital services available in our community. Quincy Public Schools has offered an opportunity that exemplifies our ongoing dedication to making resources more accessible and fostering a stronger, more supportive Adams County.”

Participants will be engaged in a discussion on gaps in available mental health services. Attendees have the opportunity to meet with participating organizations to gain insights and explore additional solutions for student mental health support in their schools.
