Melba G. Wiesemann — Duker & Haugh

Melba G. Wiesemann, age 98, formerly of Mendon, IL, died on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in the Sunset Home. She was born on September 2, 1926 along with her twin brother Melbourne to Homer and Stella (Plummer) Kitson in Batchtown, IL. On May 10, 1951 she married Ellis Wiesemann in Luther Memorial Church in Quincy where they were members for many years. Ellis preceded her in death on August 27, 2003.
Melba was the true meaning of a farmer’s wife. She loved tending to her garden and flowers. She made the best fried chicken and cole slaw. She made the best Sunday dinners. On Saturday nights she listened to the Grand Ole Opry to the old country music of days gone by.
Melba loved celebrating Christmas and Thanksgiving, always making the traditional meals. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Sunset Home for being her family for the last nine years.
You had to love her spunk and humor. You always knew where you stood with her.
Melba will be missed by all she touched through the years.
She is survived by:
CHILDREN: Dale Wiesemann of Mendon and Cheryl Buckman of Hannibal, MO.
GRANDCHILDREN: Leah Buckman and Lindsay Jones (Curtis).
GREAT-GRANDCHILDRN; Avery Jones and Kinley Jones.
Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
In addition to her husband, Melba was also preceded in death by her parents, a son Steven, a son-in-law: Kenny Buckman and siblings: Melbourne, Rosemary, Christine and Shirley.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in New Providence Cemetery near Ursa. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 noon until the time of the services at 1:00. Memorials may be made to the Sunset Home. The Duker & Haugh Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
