Brenda Kay Schawitsch – Duker & Haugh
Brenda Kay Schawitsch, 75, of Maywood, MO died at 3:08 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025 at home. Brenda was born August 25, 1949 in Taylorville, IL in Christian County the daughter of Harold and Opal (Dowdy) Lowis. She married L. Dale Schawitsch February 15, 1974, in Indian Rocks Beach, FL.
Professionally, Brenda was a licensed beautician and had operated her own beauty shop, worked along with her husband in Decatur at Ace Blacktop and later they owned and operated Quincy’s Discount Battery from 1982-2017. For fun, they loved boating in Florida and at the Ozarks. Brenda enjoyed spending time at the farm, especially on the lawn mower. She had a heart of gold and time spent with family was a priority. A memorable trip to Hawaii was treasured.
She is survived by Mother, Opal Lowis, sisters, Patricia Gabel, Debra (Jim Rodden), brothers Mark (Carla) Lowis, Gregg (Tracie) Lowis, 6 nieces, 3 nephews, several great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her father Harold, and sister Dianna Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Interment in Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Duker & Haugh. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
