Omer J. Shannon, Jr. — Hansen-Spear

Omer J. Shannon Jr, age 66, of Quincy, died Monday, February 24, 2025, at 4:56 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Omer was born May 19, 1958, in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of Omer and Phyllis House Shannon. He married Jackie Jean Smith Shaul on June 14, 2008, in Quincy. She survives.

Omer was a graduate of Highland High School in Ewing, MO. He worked at Speedrack for several years before securing a position at Titan Wheel, where he remained for over 20 years. Omer was an “expert” guitar player. In his younger years, he played in various bands at numerous events and venues in the Quincy area. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Omer was known to be the most genuine, good hearted man you could ever meet. He had an uncanny ability to make you laugh; his sense of humor being a defining characteristic. His love of Mountain Dew and Reeses Peanut Butter Cups was known far and wide. Omer will be missed by all.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Jackie, include: a son, Josh M. (Kaitlyn) Shannon of Quincy; a step-son, Chris Shaul of Quincy; two grandchildren, Lilli Hankins and Declan Shannon both of Quincy; a brother Paul Shannon of Quincy; two sisters, Desirae (Phil) O’Neal of Clarence, MO, and Brandy (Sparky) Avant of Myrtle Beach, SC; nieces and nephews, Cory and Lane Shannon, Meredith and Ethan O’Neal, and Donavon and Caitlin Avant.

Omer was preceded in death by his parents.
