Organizational meeting for Central Park Farmers Market to be held Thursday at Admiral Coontz

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A vendors meeting for anyone interested in participating in the Central Park Farmers Market this summer will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.
Anyone who has been a past vendor or is interested in being a vendor is welcome to attend. The local health inspector and scale inspector will be in attendance. Rules and regulations will be outlined, and an open forum will be held for questions and ideas.
Plans for the upcoming season will be discussed at the meeting. Steve Huse will be market manager. Central Park Farmers Market’s opening day will be Saturday, April 26, and continue every Saturday through Oct. 25 with hours of 7:30 a.m. to noon. Starting in June, the market will also be open Tuesday evenings from 3 to 7 p.m.
The market plays a role as a community gathering place that offers the products from the area. The market offers consumers healthy, yet affordable, alternatives to the typical supermarket experience.
About 30 vendors participated in the Farmers Market each week last year offering a variety of fruits, vegetables, baked goods, coffee, flowers, herbs, jam and jelly and bread.
