Augusta man wanted on forgery charge in Missouri arrested, jailed in Hancock County

AUGUSTA, Ill. — An Augusta man wanted in Missouri was arrested Sunday afternoon.
Hancock County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested Joel A. Kessler, 40, at a residence in Augusta on a Miller County (Mo.) warrant. A records check confirmed Kessler was wanted for tampering with a motor vehicle and forgery.
Kessler was transported to the Hancock County Jail. Bond was set at $25,000 by officials in Miller County. Kessler remains in custody pending extradition proceedings.
