Hannibal woman in custody after HPD detectives believe she was responsible for injuries to child
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal woman was taken into custody on Tuesday after detectives determined she was responsible for the injuries sustained by a child.
Detectives with the Hannibal Police Department were requested on Nov. 12 to assist the Marion County Children’s Division at an area educational facility. At the facility, detectives saw a child under the age of 5 who had obvious signs of injury. They believe Kristen M. Surgeon, 32, of Hannibal was responsible for the injuries.
The 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant Tuesday for Surgeon. She was charged with abuse or neglect of a child. Surgeon was taken into custody without incident. The injuries to the child are believed to be non-life threatening.
Surgeon’s bond was set at $10,000 cash.
