Fifty new trees to be added to South Main Recreation Area on Wednesday

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Members of the Hannibal Parks and Recreation staff, the Tree Board, Missouri Department of Conservation, employees from DHL Shipping and fourth-graders from Stowell Elementary School will participate in tree plantings beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the South Main Recreation Area, starting at South Main and Fulton Streets.
Fifty trees will be planted, all donated from the Forest Releaf of Missouri program. Its mission is to enrich communities by growing and planting trees through the power of people and partnerships.
Trees to be planted:
- River Birch (9)
- Burr Oak (9)
- Pecan (12)
- Kentucky Coffee tree (1)
- Sycamore (9)
- Sweet gum (10)
Hannibal is celebrating its 27th year as a Tree City USA.
