Westbound off-ramps on U.S. Route 36 at Monroe City to see nighttime closures Monday through Wednesday

Missouri-Department-of-Transportation

HANNIBAL, Mo. — Motorists are advised of overnight ramp closures April 14-16 for pavement repairs on the westbound U.S. Route 36 on/off-ramps, at the Route Z interchange in Monroe City.

The ramp closures are scheduled to occur during overnight hours, beginning at 9 p.m. on Monday, April 14, through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, and from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16.

The pavement improvement project began last month and continues to progress on 18 miles of westbound U.S. 36 in Marion and Ralls counties, from 0.7 mile west of U.S. Route 61 at Hannibal to 0.5 mile west of Route Z near Monroe City. This work includes pavement repairs, shoulder improvements, resurfacing and diamond grinding.

Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts where crews are actively working:

  • Lane reductions with a 12-foot width restriction
  • Speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph
  • Periodic overnight lane reductions throughout the project

Pavement repairs and diamond grinding only will be completed at the following locations:

  • Westbound U.S. 36 from Hannibal to 0.9 mile east of Route H
  • Eastbound U.S. 36 from 0.9 mile east of Route H to 1.8 miles east of U.S. 24 east junction in Marion County

Signs, including message boards, will be utilized for traffic control and alerts such as schedule changes. All work is weather-dependent. Schedules are subject to change.

The $8.2 million contract was awarded last year to Emery Sapp & Sons, Inc. of Columbia. All work is scheduled to be completed by mid-summer.
