MU Extension ag lenders workshop set for Dec. 8 in Kirksville

University-of-Missouri-Extension

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri agricultural lenders are invited to seminars hosted by University of Missouri Extension agricultural business and policy specialists.

Each year, leading economists and ag business and policy specialists from MU Extension, Missouri Department of Agriculture and the MU Food and Agricultural Policy Research Institute provide updates for agricultural lenders. Topics include market outlooks, macroeconomic conditions, land values and rental rates, enterprise budgets, risk management tools, and changes to tax law such as earned income tax credit and the American Rescue Plan, said MU Extension economist Ben Brown.

With these updates, ag lenders can help their clients make informed decisions about market trends, risks and changes that affect borrowing and investment capacities, Brown said.

“For 2021, the number of host sites is decreased due to lower expected turnout and increased costs due to the global pandemic,” Brown said. “Several long-running locations like Hannibal, West Plains, Clinton and Bolivar will not be available in 2021 but will be reevaluated for 2022. I hope lenders who’ve been to seminars at those locations in the past will consider attending at one of the other venues.”

Information for all six seminars is at muext.us/ABPevents.

Speakers and topics for a Dec. 8 seminar in Kirksville are Karisha Devlin, land values and rental rates; Jason Morris and Darla Campbell, earned income credit and American Rescue Plan; Joe Koenen, tax law update; Ryan Milhollin, enterprise budgets and risk management tools; and Ben Brown, macroeconomics and crop and livestock outlooks.
